Brief Introduction
The rotor of a DC motor, also known as an armature, is composed of an iron core, a winding, a commutator, and a cooling fan.
The armature iron core is used to form the magnetic circuit of the motor and the embedded armature winding.In order to reduce the loss of the iron core, silicon steel sheets that are 0.35mm or 0.5mm thick and coated with insulating paint are usually stacked.In order to strengthen cooling, the armature core of the small-capacity motor has axial ventilation holes, and the large-capacity motor also has radial ventilation grooves.
The role of the armature winding is to generate induced electromotive force and electromagnetic torque, thereby converting electrical energy into mechanical energy.The armature winding is made of insulated copper wire, and then embedded in the armature core groove. The lead end of the winding is connected to the commutator according to a certain rule. The groove of the winding is pressed with an insulated groove wedge, and the end is tied with a glass ribbon.
The commutator is a key component of a DC motor. It converts the AC electromotive force inside the armature winding into the DC electromotive force between the brushes. The commutator is composed of commutators insulated from each other, and the outer surface is circular.The commutator is made of hard electrolytic copper, and the inter-commutator pad is insulated with 0.4~1mm thick mica. The end of the entire cylinder is clamped with a V-shaped pressure ring. Mica insulation is also used between the commutator and the V-shaped pressure ring. The end of each commutator has a protruding lifting piece, which is used to connect to the end of the winding lead.
