Brief Introduction
DC motors have good start-up, speed regulation performance and overload capacity, and are mainly used in the fields of transportation, lifting, steel rolling and automatic control.Because DC motors have commutators, compared with AC motors, they have disadvantages such as complex structure, high manufacturing cost, and large operation and maintenance workload, which restricts the use of DC motors.
The DC motor model consists of a main magnetic pole (excitation coil), an armature (armature coil), a brush, and a commutator.A pair of DC-excited stationary main magnetic poles N and S are provided on the stator, and the main magnetic poles are generated by the magnetic field of the excitation coil; the rotor is equipped with an armature core and an armature winding.The armature current is generated by an external DC power supply, and there is an air gap between the stator and the rotor.The first and end of the armature coil are connected to two arc-shaped commutator plates, and the commutator plates are insulated from each other. The whole composed of the commutator plates is called the commutator.The commutator is fixed to the shaft and is insulated from the shaft.A pair of fixed brushes are placed on the commutator sheet. When the armature rotates, the armature coil contacts the external circuit through the commutator sheet and the brush, and an external DC power supply is introduced.
When the DC motor is running, the DC power supply is connected between the two brushes. The current direction is: the effective side current of the N-level is always in one direction, while the effective side current of the S-level is always in the other direction. The electromagnetic force received on both sides is in the same direction, and the armature rotates accordingly.When the effective side of the coil is transferred from the lower N stage (upper S stage) to the upper S stage (lower N pole), the direction of the current changes due to the commutator piece at the same time, and the direction of the electromagnetic force remains the same, so that the armature is subjected to the same electromagnetic torque in one direction, the armature of the DC motor is composed of multiple coils, so that the electromagnetic torque generated by the coil is relatively uniform, there will not be much pulsation, so the motor can run continuously and smoothly.
